Guy Kawasaki's 10/20/30 rule for presentations
Some advice I find on the web is very very useful. This post by Guy Kawasaki about making presentations is certainly one.
Last night I attended the annual meeting of an association that I belong to. After our meeting we had, although I did not know it, scheduled a speech by a representative from the Japanese Consulate. An outdoor barbecue at the hotel rooftop restaurant was to follow that.
First of all we managed to keep the Consul waiting for 30 minutes, which to me was inexcusably rude. But he had the last laugh. He spoke for 45 minutes! The barbecue started 1 hour late at 8.30 and it was already dark.
So remember the Guy Kawasaki 10/20/30 rule and keep it for life. No presentation should exceed 20 minutes. Slides should number no more than 10. The font on the slides should be larger than 30 points, that will restrict them to just a few points.
