Montaigne's tower

Here is the podcast

I intend to change my blog name and the nature of the blog. I want to talk about other things that interest me. Montaigne retired to his library tower to write his "essais". I will not do anything quite so wonderful, but I do spend a lot of time in my library which is in a loft in my house, sort of a tower.

Comments

Ha you've just reminded me of one of my favourite quotes from Montaigne himself: "L'homme est bien insensé! il ne sçauroit forger un ciron, et forge des dieux à douzaine!".

Steve,

In this podcast you mention “feedback” several times. Sounds like you also ask for feedback on your decision to change your blog. Of course you do write what you want in the form that you want. The better it gets.

Could you please also include in the new blog your experience of starting up the Linguist and LingQ from the business perspective.

And then, may be, from the cultural perspective. And even from the perspective of a human reaction. Don’t you think of people less favorable now then you had thought before starting up the Linguist? A loaded question, of course.

I observe as some people are pleased to kick you and the LingQ at various forums. On one hand, people are often pleased to kick those who come up with something new. On the other hand, it is hard to come up with something new that is evidently and immediately good. Else, there is indeed no such thing as plain good or wrong in the methods of teaching and learning.

Montaigne would have found many hands.
