The Linguist - language learning should be fun

GermanLingQ Podcast starts up

We posted our first GermanLingQ Podcast (Chris please note) and hope to have a transcript at LingQ in a day or two. It will depend on how good our transcriber is. Our transcriber will also have to correct my mistakes in German! In any case if there are considered useful we will keep it up.

I will also try to get an ItalianLingQ podcast going. Comments and criticisms are welcome.

In the meanwhile we are pretty regular in the other LingQ Podcasts, and there again welcome any comments or requests.

A discussion about LIngQ, mostly in German

I had a conversation about LingQ with Irene. Most of the discussion is in German. Unfortunately much of the sound file was corrupted. I was able to salvage a bit. I play it because of the very pleasant way Irene speaks German.

I think she is representative of the many outstanding learners we have at The Linguist, many of whom have told me that they are willing to help other people learn their language, whether German, as in the case of Irene, or French or Spanish or Japanese or Portuguese or Korean or Turkish or whatever. Some have started producing wonderful content. We are just getting started.

Just listen to the patience and clarity with which Irene enunciates her German. I think I would want her as my tutor !

Advice in German on learning Cantonese

Thomas asked in a comment, in German, about learning Cantonese. I answered his comment and decided to add a brief Podcast in German. I hope some German listeners will pick it up and find out about The Linguist, the best place to come to learn English or just to improve.

I ma e quite a few mistakes in my German. I even heard a few while listening to my recording. One day I will work on improving my German. I will not hire a teacher. I will not go to a school. I will listen to and read content that interests me. I will save words and phrases into a database for review. I will gradually get used to the correct phrasing of German. It will be faster and more pleasant than having someone correct me. That is how I got this far, and the same approach will take me the rest of the way.
